The Food Service Advisory Council (FSAC) bridges Chartwells Food Services to the Campus Community for meaningful conversation to create greater selections and service to the campus. We are looking for 4 resident students, 4 commuter students, 4 Faculty & Staff to serve upon this committee. All meetings are held in the Campus Center, Conference Room H -311 during common hour, 2:40 pm – 4:00 pm. First Cohort of Dream U.S 2023 recipients at OW, scholar advisors and crear futuros mentors.
The Dream.US was founded in 2013 by American philanthropists and is the largest national college and career program for undocumented immigrant youth with or without DACA or TPS status.
Eligible students in New York may apply for The National Scholarship, which provides up to $33,000.00 for tuition and fees, plus a $1,500.00 yearly stipend for books and transportation.
Students must apply and enroll at a partner institution in New York to receive the scholarship. SUNY Old Westbury became a proud partner with The Dream.US in 2023!
The National Scholarship application opens November 1st and closes in February. It is open to high school and college students. Eligibility requirements for the scholarship include:
- Came to the United States before November 1, 2017, and have continuously lived in the United States since then
- Arrived in the United States before the age of 16 (students born in the U.S. are not eligible)
- Have graduated or will graduate from a New York high school (or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma) before the Fall of 2023
- Have significant unmet financial need and are eligible for in-state tuition
- A Cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or better
Students who apply for the National Scholarship are encouraged to also apply for financial aid through the Jose Peralta New York State Dream Act.
