Covid-19 has challenged the way we see fashion. It has allowed for some to create individual work from home styles by recycling  their staple pieces and refrain from excessive spending.

Some have swapped their suits and dress attire for sweat pants and t-shirts while others have aimed for something comfortable yet chic and appropriate for all virtual meeting platforms.. For those who own costume jewelry, a basic tee and a denim  shirt, the world is yours! Costume jewelry can dress up the most basic piece of clothing, and with eccentric beading and bold metals,  jewelry can add the same armor as your traditional power suit. It allows you to be as audacious as you please at any given moment; even in a basic tee. Any outfit can be elevated with a grand necklace and a daring pair of earrings.

If you’re struggling to find balance between clothing styles, a denim piece can be dressed up or down. The versatility of denim is endless. From the assortment of washes and its ability to pair with just about anything, it can spice up your day to day outfit. Take a look in your closet; most of us own at least one or two of the pieces mentioned. By swapping out or combining each of them, you can create an assortment of looks for any virtual setting.  Men aren’t excused from this wardrobe revamp, they are also able to mix and match their favorite pieces by dressing up a simple button down with a tie or adding their favorite t-shirt for a more casual look.

Recording, facilitating  and teaching is a hard thing to do when you aren’t in your normal structured setting. One of the many challenges of this pandemic is we all have to be camera ready at any given moment; it can be quite cumbersome. With most of us living our lives in front of some sort of device with video chat capabilities; there’s nowhere to go but everyone to see.

Though we are in the comfort of our own homes, we still have to keep up a certain level of appearance for each setting. “ A friend of mine dresses up everyday even if she isn’t recording, it’s her way of self care. She purposely wears heels when she’s in front of the camera because it keeps her on her game and allows a sense of normalcy and power.” Says Sheree Jones, who has revamped her own style during Covid.

Instead of buying things for a new look, reinvent the things in your closet that you used to love. Covid has allowed us to be more creative and free with our fashion choices. Since most of us are hopefully still practicing social distancing, our creativity and uniqueness can still show through our screens as they would in any board room or office. Have fun and shop in your closet!
