A Farewell to Alex Trebek

Famous longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trek has sadly passed away on November 8th. In March of 2019 Trebek first revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Trebek died at age 80 after his open and public battle with his stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After the announcement regarding his health, he underwent treatment and he powered on and continued to film new episodes for the famous game show.

Trebek was the longest running host of Jeopardy! and has hosted more than 8,200 episodes of the show over 37 seasons since 1984. Before his time on the show, Trebek was a journalist working as a reporter for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Eventually he would make a shift in career choices and ended up hosting other game shows and eventually “Jeopardy!”

Trebek became an iconic figure during his time on the show while engaging millions of viewers. He wasn’t just known for his time on the show, but also for his philanthropic work. To Trebek, giving back was a very essential part of his life. He became a supporter of the work of World Vision that helps children by providing better education, healthcare and clean water. Trebek even earned the Order of Canada in 2017 which is Canada’s second highest civilian honor.

He completed and contributed so much to the world around him. The beloved host of ‘Jeopardy!’ leaves behind a lasting legacy. He inspired millions of people even through the most difficult time in his life. Trebek will truly be missed, by not only his fans but his friends and family.

His legacy will not be forgotten.
