America Has Fallen

America has fallen. America has become a unified country in its own form of chaos and neglect. We the people, have failed to uphold the freedom and justice that we as a country stand for and let it burn. We the people are no longer unified in our cause but rather destroy everything that the constitution stands for. We the people have disappointed our founding fathers as they turn over in their graves. We the American people have burned our Capitol.

January 6th, 2021, a pro-Trump mob marched and attacked the Capitol. This is a never-before-seen event for many Americans, where the people unify to attack their own government. This initial protest started with President Donald J. Trump losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden. Due to Trump’s false accusations of election fraud and election tampering, many Trump supporters began to rise and demand action. With no proof of election fraud, and periodic attempts to sue (and lose) every trial, Trump supporters began to violently protest in Washington D.C.

This terrorist attack was violent and included  criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature as defined by the FBI has led to the death of five people including one capitol police officer, many injured, and the destruction of the Capitol. What does this mean for the country?

If America cannot be unified after its presidential election, and people choose to throw a temper tantrum about a person losing, then we no longer deserve to be called a world power. We the country of the free, home of the brave, are attacking our own people and are disgracing this nation. We have never been more divided over a president who refuses to surrender his position to the next person in line. Because of pro-Trump protestors, people have died, property has been destroyed, and our Capitol is in shambles. To allow such things to go on over a temper tantrum of a child president is a disgrace to everything America stands for. We have destroyed everything that is noble about America and shown our true colors to the world as a country divided over petty reasons.

One day, we will look back on this day with our children, we will talk about what has happened, and we will remember the day that the American people have disgraced themselves before the world. My hope is that one day, we look back on this day, when the country was split, and remember to do better, be better. We the people are divided. While we remain divided over petty politics and choose to burn our Capital down, we will remain a disgrace to the world and to our founders. Now is a time to stop hating your neighbor because they are different, have different political views, religion or race. Now is the time to unify. Now is the time to rebuild. Now is the time to show the world that we are still a good country, and we still have hope for the future. Now is not the time to add a new civil war to our history books. Now is the time to forgive and heal, and not burn and destroy. Now it is time to move forward.
