As of now, only certain people qualify for the coronavirus vaccination. It can be difficult to obtain a spot for it if you don’t know where to look.

The vaccination for the coronavirus has been made available for teachers, people over the age of 65, healthcare and other frontline workers. However, it has been difficult for many to schedule an appointment for themselves.

According to Patch, Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “We do have more vaccines now so there is more flexibility in the system.” However, there is a lack of availability when it comes to booking an appointment for the vaccine.

Thankfully, getting a Covid-19 vaccination may soon be easier. Covid vaccinations are now available in local drugstores. The stores receiving vaccinations include CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, Publix, Kroger, Costco, Meijer, and Safeway. According to C-Span, the White House Covid response coordinator, Jeffrey D. Zients stated about one million doses of the vaccines will be sent out to thousands of store locations. This new implementation of the vaccination will help test the waters for mass vaccination of the general population.

The CDC reports that  if you’re currently eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, it is suggested that you check the websites of your local stores to see if you can make an appointment. If you’re not sure if you qualify to be vaccinated, stores like CVS have designated web pages where you can find out by answering a short questionnaire. The CDC’s Federal Retail Pharmacy Partnership program can help to find a store near you that provides vaccines.

For certain stores, you can book both your first and second dose of the vaccine online. The vaccine is available at no cost. You will start by answering a few questions about whether or not you’ve tested positive for Covid-19 and whether you have any symptoms. After that you’ll be prompted to continue scheduling and to add in any additional required information. If you don’t have medical insurance, make sure to have some form of ID, such as your social security number or your driver’s license.
