From September 28 to October 1, Panther Pride Homecoming will return to SUNY Old Westbury!

Panther Pride Homecoming celebrates school pride. It brings the SUNY Old Westbury community together including students, faculty, staff, and even alumni through a series of events.

The annual event last took place in Fall of 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Danielle Collins Groner, the Director of Communications and Signature Events at SUNY Old Westbury, said, “We’re thrilled to host Panther Pride Homecoming again. There are beloved traditions from the Kickoff Luncheon to the Family Day Carnival that we’re happy to have our current students have the opportunity to experience.”

President Sams will kick-off Panther Pride Homecoming on Wednesday, September 28 with opening remarks, as students and staff enjoy lunch in the Campus Center Atrium. On Thursday, September 29, students can “Stay Up @ The Union,” to celebrate Panther Pride!

The crowning of the Panther Pride Royal Court will take place at the Fraternity and Sorority Expo on September 30. The community will celebrate the Royal Court the following day, at the PantherFest Family Day & Carnival, and enjoy a day of fun! Collins Groner said that students, faculty, staff, and alumni can expect “several rides, inflatables, carnival games, and carnival food.” SUNY Old Westbury invites the whole campus community to this event, including families. While not required, attendees may bring non-perishable donations for the Panther Food Pantry.

Other events throughout Homecoming include the Cake Off Competition, “Sip” and Paint, and Field Day. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni can visit OldWestbury.edu/PantherPride for a full schedule of events.
If alumni would like to register for Panther Pride Homecoming, they can check their emails for registration information. According to the Old Westbury Website, due to the financial challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, “the College this year is suspending most fees that might have previously been charged to alumni for PantherFest Alumni Family Day. A fee will apply for the offsite Homecoming Alumni Reception.”
