On September 12, Apple released their newest mobile operating system, iOS 16. This update includes tons of new features that are compatible with the newest iPhone 14 and even all the way back to the iPhone 8. iOS 16 brings an important update to the lock screen, tweaks to the Messages app, and even seeing your battery percentage without having to swipe down to the control center.

The new lock screen is the main feature with this new update. With this feature, you can customize the font style and color that allow you to change the date and the time. You can also add widgets to your lock screen. With these widgets you can look at the weather, battery percentages for all of your Apple devices and even check your calendar for important events that are coming up all right from your lock screen.

In iOS 16, you will be able to edit and even unsend messages. “Embarrassing typos are a thing of the past.” Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software stated at the Worldwide Developers Conference back in June. You can also mark messages as unread if you don’t have time to respond to said message at that moment in time. iOS 16 also lets you “pick” any object from a photo and save it as it’s own transparent image, just like a background removal tool.

Even though there are many great features that come with iOS 16, and should be downloaded as soon as you can to your Apple device, there are some reasons why you shouldn’t download it as well. If you are nervous about potential glitches and bugs coming onto your device, do not download this update right away. Also, if you still use jailbreak tools on your device, which is when you can install software that is not available through the App Store, hold off from downloading this update.
