After months of waiting for what some would call the “most anticipated movie of the year,” Don’t Worry Darling finally has hit movie theaters. The movie is directed by actress and director Olivia Wilde. This is Wilde’s second movie she has directed with her first movie being Booksmart, which was released in 2019.

The film is about a woman named Alice Chambers, portrayed by actress Florence Pugh and her husband, Jack Chambers, whose role is played by Harry Styles. They both live in a 1950’s society in a community called Victory. In this community, the men leave to go to work everyday, while the wives tend to their husbands and do basic chores around the house. As time goes on, Alice starts to worry that the company her husband works for could be hiding some dark and disturbing secrets.

Don’t Worry Darling is a film with some great attributes mainly from actors Florence Pugh and Chris Pine. This movie is also a thriller so it kept the audience guessing and asking questions that were left unanswered once the film concluded. Harry Styles does surprisingly well for being primarily known as a singer and performer. His character in the movie is very compelling and interesting. Styles and Pugh did have great chemistry all throughout the movie as well. The movie all together looked fantastic when it came to visuals. The costumes, the hair and makeup, the houses, and the cars that the men drove made it really feel like it was the 1950’s.

However, the storyline of this movie does fall flat at least halfway through. It is one of those movies where you can figure out what is going to happen next due to subtle hints and clues left throughout the movie, and this ultimately leads to the conclusion. It’s also very similar to some movies that have already come out such as The Truman Show, The Stepford Wives, and Pleasantville.

Overall, Don’t Worry Darling is a movie that everyone should see, regardless of the countless negative reviews that have come out surrounding this movie. It’s a movie with a twist and if you are a fan of movies with twist endings, this is right up your alley.
