Located on the first floor of the New Academic Building is SUNY Old Westbury’s newest dining option for students and staff, Paper Lantern. The new restaurant is exclusive to SUNY Old Westbury and was formerly home of the popular Dunkin Donuts and Panther Pad.

Paper Lantern was added as a new dining option for SUNY Old Westbury in order for students, mostly commuters, to access food on campus. This is especially important if these students have classes in the New Academic Building and want to get something to eat before or after their classes.

Sheila Meehan, the Director of Dining Services at SUNY Old Westbury, said, “Many of the commuter students that we have on campus typically do not go to the main dining hall in the Campus Center since they do not have a meal plan like residents do.” Meehan continued, “Many of our students here have asked for new dining services and we plan on giving that to them to the best that we can.”

At Paper Lantern, there are many options one can choose from. There are eight different options of sushi rolls ranging from vegetable rolls to eel rolls. Prices for these rolls range from $5.99 to $8.49. There are also appetizers, specialty sushi rolls and bowls, and combos that are assorted pieces of sushi. You can get any of these menu items freshly made in front of you or grab them from the fridge that is located directly across from the restaurant, as the menu items are freshly stocked in this fridge.

Paper Lantern has quickly become a hit for the SUNY Old Westbury community. The dining area of the New Academic Building has become jam-packed with students and staff alike who want a quick lunch or dinner.
