On Friday March 3, 2023, the second theatrical installment of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise, Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village, was released in English dub and with English subtitles.

Prior to the movie’s release, rumors regarding the content of the movie started flying around various internet forums. The movie recaps the franchise up until the last two episodes of the Entertainment District Arc and introduces us to the third arc of the franchise, the Swordsmith Village Arc.

Right off the bat, I can say that recapping the ending of the Entertainment District Arc on a movie screen was well worth the ticket. The cinematography for the fight choreography was on point and was enjoyable to watch. The same can be said for the introduction for this latest arc. It intills you with a terrifying excitement to see what comes next for our cast of characters.

This movie will be enjoyable to fans of the series who have been watching it since the manga came out or for those who are enjoying the anime blind. The beauty of the fights is something to bewilder in the theater along with the sound composition. I also recommend this movie as a date for anime fans. Even without a lot of context given before the start of the movie, you can tell that there is an emotionally heart wrenching yet uplifting story being told.

So, is the movie worth it? Yes. It is a very visually enjoyable experience that gets the viewer worked up for what is to come next. And as always, the voice acting performances are top notch, sending shivers down your spine with every emotion. But, be warned that the rumors are true so if you don’t mind waiting a little bit to watch it on your favorite streaming platform, then this movie is a skip.
