Poem

Why the Black Woman

Why does the black Woman that think her worth is not recognized?

Why her, mothers and daughters struggle to fight?

Why do grandmothers be mothers taking care of each other?

Taking care of life, her strength, her goals.

Why sisters break down with each other.

Till dry bones are no more.

Why does society call her slut, call her a slave.

Why cast eyes, point fingers at yourself.

Why treat her like trash?

Why the black woman, tries to represent

herself? She represents the big picture,

pain saw her and ridiculed her.

She is a misfit in a tight ship.

The black woman tries hard to clear her name,

but what would it gain?

See her and talk to her, she is mother earth.

She is the dark rich soil that her feet are planted in.

Reward her, don’t strike her.

Feel her, she is the tree’s planted root.

Save her the black woman,

She is strong, blessed and highly recommended.

When your mouth opens give her praise, because she needs it.
