If you are a movie-lover and love the thriller genre, then you should check out the new trailer for the movie, “Leave the World Behind.” The official trailer shows a family who is going on a little getaway that turns into chaos. While the family is in a luxurious rental house, it takes an ominous turn when a cyberattack knocks out their devices. Plus, two strangers show up at their doorstep.

This movie is based on the best-selling novel that came out in 2020 by Rumania Alam. The book ties in with complexities of parenthood, race, and class.

According to Variety,  “If, per Howard Hawks’ too-easy rubric, ‘A good movie is three good scenes and no bad scenes,’ then this one’s a keeper. The best scene may be the last, which comes as a surprise in a Netflix movie, considering that the streaming service is one of the first casualties when internet connectivity goes down. It’s not quite a Shyamalan-twist ending, but it does put a satisfied smirk on an otherwise distressing situation.” This suggests that the ending may surprise everyone. Viewers may have to wait until the very last scene of the movie.

The movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes long. It is mostly thrilling, ominous, and chilling, with a sci-fi drama style. Julia Robets, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Kevin Bacon, and more, will be starring in the movie.

What drew me to the trailer was seeing the celebrities on the screen that are appearing in the movie. When I saw Robets and then Bacon, I knew it was going to be interesting. Even though Bacon may or may not be playing a bad guy, I was still interested. Plus, they haven’t been in a movie together since “Flatliners” which came out in 1990.

The suspenseful music playing in the background makes the viewer want to know more. Also, there are going to be a lot of questions raised. When I was watching it, I asked myself, “who really are these two people? Is this really happening? Why are there fights between these two characters?”

You can stream “Leave the World Behind” on Netflix on December 8, 2023.
