On October 22 and 23, 2023, the SUNY Old Westbury Men’s Golf team competed in the Skyline Conference Championship at Bethpage State Park. The tournament featured 8 of the top teams in the Skyline Conference.

At the end of the first day of the tournament, the Panthers sat in fifth place. On day two, they worked their way up the leaderboard to finish the tournament in second place, their best finish in the history of the program. The historic finish was the cherry on top of an already amazing season, which featured a roster of 10 players, the largest team since 2016.

Freshman David Seo was consistently strong all season and was recognized by being named First Team All-Conference. He was also especially important in the strong finish for the Panthers in the Skyline Tournament as he finished third overall.

Senior Sean Mendyk was also a top player all season. He finished seventh overall in the Skyline Tournament and earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Junior Robert Martini was another big contributor for the Panthers all season. He finished tenth overall in the Skyline Tournament and earned Second Team All-Conference honors, as well.

All members were extremely crucial in the team’s success all season and were able to collectively lower the average team score. As for head coach Donald Massman, he was recognized for the second straight year with the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year award. The Panthers will look to continue to get better and build off the momentum of this year to come back even stronger next season.
