Madame Web: A Messy Tangled Web

The highly anticipated Madame Web graced movie theater screens on February 14. The movie delves into the complicated web of mysticism and heroism surrounding Madame Web

The movie is directed by S.J. Clarkson and stars Dakota Johnson and up and coming actress Sydney Sweeney. The film promises an exciting adventure exploring a character often shrouded in mystery within the Marvel Universe. But did it live up to expectations?

Well long story short the answer is no. The movie is about Cassandra Webb who is a paramedic in New York that begins to develop signs of superpowers. Throughout the movie she protects three young women from a deadly villain.

Without getting into spoilers, the main problem with the movie is the script. There are lines and moments in there where the writing is laughably bad.

The characters are forgettable. The main villain, Ezekiel Sims, is just plain not very interesting. The special effects and CGI aren’t good either and the movie as a whole is a mess.

To be fair: The best part of Madame Web is its star, Dakota Johnson who gave the movie everything she had. I wouldn’t recommend Madame Web to anyone, not even to fans of superhero movies. You can skip this one.
